Six More Viaducts Have Been Completed

Oct 01, 2026

Six more viaducts have been completed as part of the Third Bosphorus Bridge and Northern Marmara Highway Project implemented by ICA. As a result, 6.4 kilometers of the 13.5-kilometer-long viaduct construction have been made ready for traffic.

Viaducts play a significant role in the 116-kilometer highway being built as part of the 3rd Bridge and Northern Marmara Highway Project implemented by ICA. A 13.5-kilometer section of the highway will pass over viaducts. As part of the project, six more viaducts have been completed, bringing the total number of viaducts ready for traffic to 38. Previously, viaducts numbered 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 35, 36, 37 (double-deck) and 32, 33, 34 (single-deck), making it the 29th of the project’s 64 viaducts to be completed. Along with these simultaneous efforts, work on viaducts 1, 2, and 3 (single-span) as well as 10, 25, and 30 (double-span) was also completed.

In the project, valleys are crossed by viaducts—which are four times more expensive than standard roads—and in some areas, the height of the viaducts reaches 85 meters.
With this achievement, construction has been completed on a 6.4-kilometer section of the 13.5-kilometer viaduct. A total of 64 viaducts will be built as part of the project.
