The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the Northern Ring Highway at Transist 2018

Oct 01, 2026

The IC İçtaş İnşaat–Astaldi consortium, ICA, highlighted the contributions of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the Northern Ring Highway to Istanbul’s transportation system at Transist 2018, Turkey’s largest transportation event.

ICA participated in the 11th Transist 2018 International Istanbul Transportation Congress and Fair, held this year. Held at the Istanbul Congress Center from November 8–10, 2018, under the theme “4C: Cost, Capacity, Congestion, Connection,” Transist 2018 featured ICA highlighted the contributions of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the Northern Ring Highway to Istanbul’s transportation system and provided visitors with information about the highway route, operational processes, and the benefits provided to users.

The importance of our route has increased with the opening of Istanbul Airport

ICA General Manager Atilla Gökçe, noting that the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Northern Ring Highway route has gained even greater importance with the “Istanbul Airport”—whose official opening took place on October 29—stated, “Our route offers fast, easy, and safe access to the new airport, which is a source of pride for our country. To this end, we opened our Odayeri toll booths simultaneously with the airport’s opening. As a result, drivers using our highway can now reach Istanbul Airport in a matter of minutes. On the other hand, Sabiha Gökçen Airport is located at the other end of our route. “At this point, our location also connects Istanbul Airport with Sabiha Gökçen Airport and ensures their integration,” he said.

All our efforts are aimed at providing a comfortable, seamless, and safe journey

Noting that the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the Northern Ring Highway have provided relief to Istanbul’s traffic—a fact demonstrated annually by data released by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and various statistics—Atilla Gökçe added, “Providing drivers who use our highway with a high-quality, safe, comfortable, and seamless journey has always been our top priority. In this regard, we manage our operations in accordance with international quality standards. Private highway operation, which began in Europe many years ago, is a very new industry for our country. With the awareness that we are one of Turkey’s first private highway operators, we are working to ensure this business is conducted at the highest level,” he said.
Noting that the bridge and highway—which are the first of their kind in the world in many respects—also entail significant responsibilities, Gökçe continued: “As ICA, we conduct our operations with a full awareness of this responsibility. To this end, we have equipped our highway with driver-friendly intelligent transportation systems, state-of-the-art maintenance equipment, and toll collection systems. Our knowledgeable, well-equipped, and dedicated operational staff of approximately 1,000 people, along with our traffic patrol and maintenance teams that adhere to the ‘safety in all four seasons’ principle, work 24/7, and we monitor our route via cameras from our Main Control Center. Road safety and security measures are of particular importance for the sustainability of the services we provide.”

Free charging for electric vehicles at Bi’ Mola Rest Areas

Located along the Northern Ring Highway, Bi’ Mola rest and fuel stations offer travelers a place to rest and receive quality service during their journeys. These facilities are the first on Turkey’s highway network to offer free charging for electric vehicles. All electric vehicle owners can take advantage of this service, which ICA launched to support the use of electric vehicles and promote an environmentally friendly approach.
Throughout the three-day fair, ICA officials also provided participants with information about the services offered through the YSS Bridge mobile app and website http://www.ysskoprusuveotoyolu.com.tr .
