"Türkevi," built by IC İçtaş Construction, has taken its place among New York’s iconic buildings

The opening of Türkevi, built in New York through a partnership between IC İçtaş Construction and the American construction firm Tishman, was presided over by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. As an elegant and symbolic structure, Türkevi has joined the ranks of New York’s skyscrapers with its modern appearance and taken its place among Manhattan’s iconic buildings.

Çeçen: “We completed the construction through disciplined work despite the pandemic.”

Expressing his pride in completing an extremely important project that required meticulous work, Fırat Çeçen, Chairman of the Board of Directors at IC İçtaş Construction, “In addition to the project’s location across from the United Nations building, the challenges of constructing in the city’s busiest area, and our limited workspace, we also faced the pandemic during the construction process. Nevertheless, through disciplined and well-planned work, we completed the construction, and we are delighted to see it open, put into use, and come to life. Rising into the sky in the heart of New York in a manner befitting our country’s prestige, our Türkevi has taken its place among the city’s iconic buildings, visible from many parts of the city. This also fills us with pride,” he said.

The 35-story Türkevi stands 171 meters tall

Built on a 20,000-square-meter site across from the United Nations building in New York, Türkevi is a 35-story building standing 171 meters tall. Rising into New York’s skyline in the shape of a tulip, Türkevi also incorporates elements of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture.

Türkevi houses the Turkish Consulate General in New York, Turkish Attaché Offices, the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the UN, the Representative Office of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and the New York Representative Office of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.

The environmentally friendly Türkevi was built to meet “LEED Silver” certification standards.

The building, which features a 200-seat auditorium, meeting rooms, and exhibition halls, is equipped with a system to collect and store rainwater. Türkevi was also constructed in accordance with the “LEED Silver” green building certification standards.
