For the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge Project, a change in method was implemented for the installation of the steel deck sections. Sliding cranes, each consisting of two sections and weighing a total of 380 metric tons with a lifting capacity of 3,000 metric tons, will now be used to lift the steel deck sections.

New giant cranes have begun to be used on the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge Project, implemented by ICA. A change in the method used to install the steel deck sections has been implemented. Sliding cranes, consisting of two sections with a combined weight of 380 metric tons and a lifting capacity of 3,000 metric tons, will now be used. The remaining 17 steel deck sections will be lifted using these sliding cranes.

The 3rd Bridge Site Manager stated, “The sliding crane (lifting gantry) consists of two sections that will be mounted on the main cable, with each section weighing 190 metric tons. Previously, a ‘derrick crane’ was used. It was positioned on top of the steel deck sections and would anchor itself to the previous deck section to lift the newly arrived one. Here, a different system will be used. The sliding crane was assembled on steel deck No. D14. At this stage, the new giant crane (lifting gantry) will be lifted sideways so it can pass through the main cable and then rotated 90 degrees using a rotating platform above the main cable. "All of these operations, as well as the steel deck lifting operations, will be carried out simultaneously on both the European and Asian sides," he said.
