Oct 01, 2026

Ahmet Arslan, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs, and Communications, noted that there had been a great deal of criticism that “trees were being cut down” during the construction of the Third Bridge and its access roads, stating, “Along this route, 381,000 trees had to be cut down or relocated. According to the protocol we established, we are required to plant five times that number—that is, approximately 1,900,000 trees. To date, together with our contractor, we have planted over 2 million trees. However, we are not stopping there. We will plant approximately 1.5 million additional trees,” he said.

Following his inspection at the third airport, Arslan arrived at the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which is currently under construction. After receiving information from officials there, Arslan conducted an on-site inspection of the construction area. Following his remarks, Arslan continued his inspection of the bridge and posed for photos with the workers. Arslan then broke his fast with the workers on the bridge.
