IC İçtaş İnşaat’s Project Portfolio in Romania Reaches 880 Million Euros

IC İçtaş İnşaat, a leading company in global infrastructure projects, has signed yet another contract for ongoing railway renovation work in Romania. The company, which took on the construction of Lot 4 of the “Craiova–Caransebeș” railway line—which plays a critical role in Romania’s integration into the European Union—last June, has now also signed a contract for the construction of Lot 6 of the same line. With this new contract, valued at approximately 420 million euros, IC İçtaş İnşaat’s total project portfolio in Romania has reached 880 million euros.

IC İçtaş İnşaat, which is steadily expanding its investments in Europe through new projects, is playing a critical role in the modernization of the Eastern Mediterranean Corridor—a project led by the Romanian National Railway Company (CFR SA) and is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The company, which won the second tender for the “Craiova – Caransebeș” railway line—which aims to strengthen the country’s integration with the European Union’s transportation network—the company won the second tender for this project. Through this initiative, the company aims to support sustainable transportation by contributing to the implementation of a modern, safe, and efficient railway infrastructure in Romania. With the signing of the contract for Lot 6, valued at 420 million euros, the company has expanded its portfolio in Romania to 880 million euros, thereby strengthening its position in the European infrastructure market.

IC İçtaş Is Rebuilding Romania’s Railway Future

The Lot-6 section, valued at a total of 420 million euros, involves the rehabilitation of a 37-kilometer-long line extending southward from the city of Caransebeș in southwestern Romania. IC İçtaş Construction will carry out the project in collaboration with its local partner, Rotary. The project, which will last a total of 75 months, will consist of a 12-month design phase, a 60-month construction phase, and a 3-month commissioning phase. Upon completion, a 10-year warranty period will follow.

Under the EPC model, IC İçtaş İnşaat will undertake all design, construction, and electrical and mechanical (E&M) work, including signaling systems. The project will involve the construction of two new tunnels—one 550 meters long and the other 305 meters long—the rehabilitation of two existing tunnels, the renovation of a total of 19 bridges spanning 1 to 3 spans, 3 underpasses, various culverts, and the modernization of 7 stations are among the other works to be carried out as part of the project.
