The Paşaköy–Mecidiye section of the Northern Ring Highway has opened

Oct 01, 2026

The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the Northern Ring Highway, whose construction was completed by the IC İçtaş Astaldi consortium (ICA) and which is also operated by ICA, saw the opening of the Paşaköy –Mecidiye section of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Northern Ring Highway, completed by the IC İçtaş Astaldi consortium (ICA) and operated by ICA, was opened on Tuesday, July 4, with a ceremony attended by our Prime Minister, Mr. Binali Yıldırım.

The Paşaköy–Mecidiye connector road, which will serve as a new solution to alleviate traffic in Istanbul, is of great importance in ensuring the integration of the Anatolia Highway with the Northern Marmara Highway.

Other benefits of the connector road include:

• It will provide a direct connection to the Istanbul–Ankara TEM Highway from the Kurtköy area.

• It will facilitate easy access to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. This will link both the newly opening airport and the city’s other airports.

• Vehicles traveling from Anatolia to Europe and from Europe to Anatolia—particularly heavy-duty traffic—that pass through Istanbul in transit will be able to connect directly from the Anatolia Highway at the Sultanbeyli–Kurtköy section to the Northern Ring Highway.

• With this connecting road, transit traffic that currently branches off at the Çamlık Intersection will instead branch off at the Mecidiye Intersection, thereby alleviating traffic in Sultanbeyli, Çamlıca, Ataşehir, and Ümraniye.

• It is anticipated that the heavy traffic on the Kurtköy–Şile Road will be significantly alleviated by this connecting road.

• Additionally, the directional ramps at the Mecidiye Interchange will provide drivers with a comfortable way to exit and merge onto the highway.
