A conference titled “There Is No Other World,” which addressed the importance of working toward a better future and the “chain of kindness” for a sustainable world, was held at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University (AİÇÜ).

The event, held at the Selçuklu Conference Hall of the AİÇÜ Culture and Congress Center, was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Abdulhalik Karabulut; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Önder Şimşek and Prof. Dr. Faruk Kaya; Dr. Meral Dinçer, Director of the İbrahim Çeçen (IC) Foundation Director Dr. Meral Dinçer, IC Holding Director of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Burak Işık, as well as faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, AİÇÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Abdulhalik Karabulut stated that everyone has an important role to play in halting and reversing this negative trajectory in a world that has been drifting toward catastrophe over the past 20 years. Prof. Dr. Karabulut said, “Globally, temperatures have been rising by 1 degree every 100 years, and this warming trend has been particularly pronounced over the last 20 years. As a university, we have established a solar power plant on our nature-integrated campus to raise awareness about global warming and contribute to the development of solutions. In addition, we have launched numerous clubs to raise awareness of social and environmental issues, and we plan to establish a Sustainability Club in the near future. Ensuring that everyone is sensitive to this problem—which is likely to profoundly affect the lives of all living beings on Earth—must be our top priority. With these sentiments in mind, I would like to thank Burak Işık, who serves as the Director of Corporate Governance and Sustainability at IC Holding—a company that has rendered significant services to our country—under the leadership of Mr. İbrahim Çeçen, an education volunteer whose name we proudly bear at our university, Sena Doğan, Assistant Sustainability Specialist; and Dr. Meral Dinçer, Assistant Professor and Director of the IC Foundation,” he said.

Burak Işık, Director of Corporate Governance and Sustainability at IC Holding, who emphasized that sustainability is of great importance to IC Holding—a company committed to creating added value for society and the economy through a sense of social responsibility—stated, “Sustainability is a multidimensional concept encompassing environmental, social, and economic dimensions. There are many types of risks that threaten our world. The greatest risk facing the world over the next 10 years is climate change. Holding companies also have a major role to play in this regard. As IC Holding, we are doing everything in our power to help keep global warming within the 1.5-degree limit, in line with our country’s goal,” he said.

Meral Dinçer, Director of the IC Foundation, expressed her delight at bringing Burak Işık, IC Holding’s Director of Corporate Governance and Sustainability, to meet with students at the “There Is No Other World” conference—one of the activities organized by AİÇÜ and the IC Foundation on scientific, social, cultural, and environmental issues—that they were pleased to bring Burak Işık, Director of Corporate Governance and Sustainability at IC Holding, together with the students.
