Oct 01, 2026

IC İçtaş İnşaat, the only construction company in Turkey to sign the Business Plastic Initiative and make a commitment to help combat plastic pollution, took steps to reduce and prevent plastic use, achieving a savings of 2.12 metric tons in one year.

As one of the companies participating in the Business World Plastic Initiative (İPG), IC İçtaş İnşaat has made a significant contribution to efforts to prevent plastic pollution in Turkey by reducing its plastic footprint.

Having committed to reducing total plastic use by 1 metric ton over two years starting in 2021, IC İçtaş İnşaat exceeded this target, achieving a plastic reduction of 2.12 metric tons in the first year through measures to improve existing waste management and raise employee awareness. While the amount of single-use plastic decreased, the proportion of plastic sent to recycling centers increased by 26.5 percent compared to the previous year.

IC İçtaş İnşaat, the only company in the construction sector to have made a plastic reduction commitment, shared the progress it made toward this commitment in the Business World Plastic Initiative’s 2022 Progress Report on Plastic Commitments.

IC Holding participates in the IPG with four group companies

Following IC İçtaş Construction, three more group companies of IC İbrahim Çeçen Investment Holding signed on to the IPG in 2022. Trakya Electricity Distribution Inc. (TREDAŞ), ICA – Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Northern Ring Highway Operations, and Treysan have set a precedent in their respective sectors.

About the Business World Plastic Initiative

The Business World Plastic Initiative (İPG) was established in 2019 through a collaboration between TÜSİAD, the Business World Sustainable Development Association (SKD Türkiye), and Global Compact Türkiye to encourage concrete actions by private-sector organizations regarding the plastic issue. Launched in 2019 with 26 signatories in Turkey, the BPI has now grown to 51 signatories and is leading the way in taking concrete steps to combat the plastic problem in Turkey and transition to a circular economy for plastics in line with a shared international vision.
