Installation of the tower caps has begun on the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge. Once the tower caps—which will be hoisted into place after being assembled on the ground—are installed, the 322-meter-high bridge towers will take their final form.

Final construction work is underway on the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge, a project implemented by ICA. As part of this work, on-site assembly of the tower caps (Tower Tip Covers) has begun on the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge. After assembly, the tower caps will be lifted approximately 300 meters into place with the aid of cranes. Thus, the 322-meter-tall bridge towers will take their final form.

The 3rd Bridge Tower Chief stated, “The tower cap (Tower Tip Cover) is is a 25-meter-high steel structure located at the top of the towers that protects the main cable saddles from environmental conditions and also serves as the final structural element that completes the bridge’s architecture. The total weight of the structure will be 140 metric tons. The tower cap consists of 9 sections. It will be lifted to the very tops of the towers using tower cranes, and assembly will be carried out section by section. Once assembled, the exterior of this steel structure—which stands approximately 25 meters tall—will be clad with specially designed fiber-reinforced concrete panels. “We will install a total of 330 specially manufactured fiber-reinforced concrete panels on the exterior of the steel structure. These concrete panels are made of materials with high resistance to adverse environmental conditions. Furthermore, they are manufactured in Turkey,” he stated.
