The Liebherr LR 13000 self-propelled crawler crane has been assembled at the Akkuyu NPP construction site. Of the only five such cranes in the world, two are in use at the Akkuyu NPP construction site.

The crane was leased from the Dutch company Mammoet, which has specialized in complex heavy-lift operations and transportation by water and land since 1971. The LR 13000 is the most powerful in its class: in addition to its reliable and robust construction, it can lift loads weighing up to 3,000 metric tons with a 12-meter boom. This model is most commonly used in the construction of power plants and oil refining facilities.

After passing the necessary tests, the crane was prepared for operation as part of the installation of the second layer of the internal protective lining (VZO) of the second reactor, one of the project’s target milestones.
