An offshore engineering project transforming St. Petersburg’s transportation infrastructure

IC İçtaş Construction has been awarded the EPC contract for the Central Section of the Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD) project, one of Russia’s most significant transportation infrastructure investments. Connecting St. Petersburg’s northern, central, and southern districts, the project has created a strategic transportation corridor that speeds up intra-city travel, strengthens port connections, and ensures uninterrupted city traffic.

A significant portion of the approximately 12-kilometer-long central section consists of viaducts built over the Baltic Sea. Featuring sea crossings, cable-stayed bridges, and complex marine structures, the project is one of the international benchmark projects requiring advanced bridge engineering, precise offshore construction techniques, and large-scale site coordination.

The Western High-Speed Ring Road constitutes the most technically complex section of the 46-kilometer WHSD highway. Implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the project ranks among the major transportation projects undertaken by IC İçtaş Construction on an international scale, thanks to its high engineering standards, integrated EPC management, and expertise in offshore infrastructure applications.
