The highway project connecting İzmir’s industrial corridor, which features the world’s first steel archaeological bridge

IC İçtaş Construction has successfully completed the Menemen–Aliağa–Çandarlı Highway project under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, assuming full life-cycle responsibility encompassing design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance. As part of this 96-kilometer-long controlled-access highway, consisting of 56 km of main highway and 40 km of access roads, 37 bridges, 8 viaducts, 1 tunnel, 30 underpasses, 186 culverts, and 19 interchanges were constructed, and these structures were integrated with 56 toll lanes and a comprehensive Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure. As part of the coordinated construction of bridges, viaducts, underpasses, and drainage structures along the industrial corridor, the world’s first steel archaeological bridge—designed to protect the ancient city of Neonteikhos—was also completed.

The project, which provides a strategic logistics corridor connecting the Izmir metropolitan area, the Aliağa Heavy Industry Zone, organized industrial zones, and the future Çandarlı Port, the project has helped reduce traffic congestion by diverting heavy industrial traffic to a dedicated highway corridor, thereby contributing to improved road safety and freight efficiency. As one of Turkey’s largest Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) highway projects, the Menemen–Aliağa–Çandarlı Highway is a key reference project that reflects IC İçtaş Construction’s expertise in large-scale highway, bridge, and archaeological preservation engineering.
