Terminal expansion project to enhance St. Petersburg’s international air transport capacity

IC İçtaş Construction has successfully completed the expansion and modernization of Pulkovo International Airport, one of Russia’s most important air transportation hubs. The project was implemented to meet St. Petersburg’s growing air travel demand, increase passenger capacity, and transform the airport into a modern transportation hub that meets international standards.

As part of the project, a new 120,000 m² terminal building, landside facilities, the renovation of the existing terminal, apron and road infrastructure, as well as energy, water, fuel, and other technical support systems were constructed using an integrated approach. Thanks to this extensive transformation, the airport’s annual passenger capacity has reached 17 million, and Pulkovo International Airport has become one of the most important air transportation hubs in the Baltic region.

The innovative design and engineering solutions of the new terminal building have garnered international recognition; the project was honored with an award in the “Infrastructure and Transportation Structures” category at the Structural Awards. In addition, the airport was named “Europe’s Most Improved Airport” by Airport Council International (ACI).
