A healthcare facility built in the center of Bucharest with high-security military medical units

The Prof. Dr. Dimitrie Gerota Military Emergency Hospital in Romania is being built as one of the country’s largest healthcare facilities, with approximately 93,000 m² of enclosed floor space and a capacity of 450 beds. The construction, taking place in a densely populated urban area, includes: the main hospital building, the emergency department, diagnostic and treatment units, operating rooms, intensive care units (ICUs), and laboratories are being integrated into a single structure that combines advanced clinical and emergency functions with high-security military medical areas.

Funded through European Union programs and forming part of the Romanian Ministry of the Interior’s healthcare modernization strategy, the project has been designed to meet nZEB (Nearly Zero-Energy Building) standards. Upon completion, it will improve access to advanced medical services, enhance emergency response capabilities, and strengthen Romania’s healthcare infrastructure.
